Update on Molly, Dog Buried Alive |

Update on Molly, Dog Buried Alive Pet Lovers Tips - For The Love of the Dog
75-Year-old Hyrum Long and daughter, 49-year-old Susan Johnson of Forest Grove, OR, the pair that bashed their dog, Molly, on the head and buried her alive in their yard, have been arrested and charged. Long was charged with aggravated animal abuse Johnson was charged with first-degree animal neglect.
A necropsy report from the Oregon Humane Society said the dog had a chronic skin disease, body sores and starvation, actually is said “long term lack of nutrition and chronic starvation.” It found indications the dog had not eaten for at least four days.
These are the people who went out to eat after they bashed the poor dog’s head in.
I have heard a myriad of excuses surrounding this, no money, no gun to shoot the dog, didn’t want to take it to a vet for fear of being charged with animal cruelty because they thought it had cancer. They starved the poor damn dog then they went out to eat and fill their own bellies while Molly lay suffering in a hole in their back yard.
A police officer commented that he could hear her cries from a block away. Hyrum Long said he thought he “killed her pretty good.”
A humane society spokesperson said that there are animal hospitals and vets that would have euthanized Molly at no charge if they could not have afforded to do it but they didn’t even bother to check. They were too worried about getting in trouble and rightly so!

Berlin opens soup kitchen just for dogs - Pet health- msnbc.com

Berlin opens soup kitchen just for dogs - Pet health- msnbc.com

BERLIN - A soup kitchen exclusively for dogs has opened its doors in Berlin providing pets of the homeless and unemployed with a free meal, the director of the establishment said on Friday.
Despite the looming financial crisis, director Claudia Hollm dismissed criticism that it may be more sensible to collect money for humans than for dogs.
"Nowadays people underestimate dogs. They are incredibly important for those who lack social contact with other humans," Hollm told Reuters.
"Making sure dogs don't go hungry is just as important as making sure that people don't starve," she added.
Hollm, and her company "Animal Board," gets sponsorship from companies, including animal food manufacturers.
One woman who uses the free service said she had two dogs, four cats, a rabbit and some guinea pigs.
"Without this animal bread line, I'd probably starve to death," the 20-year old told German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
The opening of the soup kitchen follows last month's launch of a new bus service in Berlin for dogs, which shuttles their furry friends to a luxury dog day-care center

Gone But Never Forgotten,Euthanized,gas chamber,rescue

GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Please take a moment to look at these innocent faces full of hope.
All of these pets were euthanized at animal control facilities (dog pounds) and most died in gas chambers.

Why? Because they had no home, no one to love and care for them.
Many of these pets once had homes, but for whatever reason, their families surrendered them to animal control. Most of the very young kittens and puppies were born because of irresponsible pet owners who did not bother to spay or neuter their pets.

Please consider what it means to be a responsible pet owner - spay and neuter your pets and know that when you adopt a pet, you are making a COMMITTMENT to that pet for the rest of it's life.

With heavy hearts we mourn the ones that we could not save. However, the volunteers of Newnan-Coweta Humane Society and Shelter Rescue will continue to go to animal control facilities, take pictures of the homeless pets and post those sweet faces on our website in hopes that some will find forever homes.
